support and love

First off I just wanted to send you my love and support.  I know that what your going through is very profound and even though I don’t know you Im sending you my love and support.  Cancer runs strong in my family as well.  My Aunt just passed away after a 3 year battle with colon cancer and my mother and sister are currently battling breast cancer (doing well).  I feel that Cancer is the plague of our generation similar to the many infectious diseases(polio, tuberculosis etc) that ran rampant in the last century(and in third world countries today).  These days I feel like we can’t turn on a TV or read any periodical without comming across a story about some newfound cure or someones personal struggle with this monster.  I came across your story on CNN.com and what your doing really spoke to me. I have long felt that our medical system operates in isolated islands that often times do not communicate with each other.  I also agree with your opinion that the best approach for treatment is one of openness and communications not only between physician and patients, but also between physicians and other physicians, physicians and researchers and everyone else involved with the process.  I also feel that in some cases not many people are aware of how profoundly deep and complicated the science of oncology is.  The reason I am telling you all of this is because  I’ve been working on a project for the past year which is very similar to what you’ve been doing with your medical records and putting them up in an open source format open for all to see.  I truly feel that the only way to reach a potential cure/new treatments is through an open environment with ideas and suggestions open to all.  I hope youll take a look at my work and give me any feedback or maybe some suggestions on improvement.  But first an foremost I just wanted to send you my support. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you.
