brain donation

Good Morning,

I read the CNN article this morning and was fascinated by the different approach taken by Mr. Iaconesi.

My story is a bit different, but with all the research you have done, I’m hoping you might be able to help me.

My aunt was diagnosed with a Stage IV GBM in 1998 and at that time, they gave her less than 1 month to live. She is still alive today. While her life is likely coming to an end, she has lived far longer than anyone expected, and in so many respects, is a miracle. At the time she was diagnosed, she lived in San Francisco. She now lives in Issaquah.

As her life is coming to an end, our family is looking for an organization to benefit from her miracle. We’d like to donate her brain to research… and amazingly, we are finding that difficult to do. We have found full body donation, but there is no direction to the organs, and it’s likely used for medical student anatomy classes. Perhaps we are mistaken in trying to find a place that will be interested in her brain to further brain cancer research.

If you have any information to pass along, or an organization that might be interested in the brain, please respond.

Thank you, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you in your fight
